procedures for North Korean medics in around world subsequently followed by intensive Surgical Project in N.Korea
Medical Training for doctors, surgeons and other medical professionals aims to further develop specialist knowledge and practice in North Korea and other developing countries around Asia. Through working with a range of skilled specialists from around the world – general surgeons, doctors, nurses, anaesthetists, ophthalmologists, paediatric surgeons to name a few – this project has been central in advancing modern medical approaches, assessments and procedures as well as developing a positive international network of medics.
The first part of our Medical Training Project identifies needs of the hospitals and medical centres that we work with and seeks to facilitate an exchange programme where doctors not only learn modern and advanced surgical techniques, but are able to observe and practice alongside specialists. This project has so far facilitated:
Development of burn reconstruction surgeries in North Korea.
This project has and continues to make a huge impact on lives of many children and families who once had limited access to specialist medical aid. The cleft lip and palate surgeries has been able to treat many children and support their families, with greater medical knowledge of the importance of early diagnosis and treatment. It continues to flourish with a growing international network of highly skilled surgeons who go on to develop and support further surgical interventions such as treatment of club foot and burn reconstruction surgeries.
